General Information:
Bonaire, with its sister islands of Aruba and Curacao, sits approximately
50 miles north of the cost of Venezuela, and comprises the hub of the Dutch
West Indies. The Island's climate is arid: giant cacti outnumber palm
trees; iguana sun-bathe on volcanic rocks while herds of wild donkeys roam
free.
Accommodations:
Sorobon Beach Resort consists of 31 ocean view chalets, two per building,
all facing the water and beach. Each unit has a bedroom, bath with
shower, and a main room consisting of kitchenette with a two burner stove
and a half-size refrigerator, dining table and chairs, couch and
sitting area. The terrace is furnished with deck-chairs
and a wooden bench and dining table. Maid service and fresh
towels six days a week. Beach towels and linens are provided.
Facilities
Sorobon's restaurant serves three meals daily. If you are having dinner
at the hotel, it is requested that you make your reservation by 1:00 p.m.
A bar, snack bar (open for lunch and dinner), library,
volleyball and ping-pong are also available. Peace and quiet, as well as
quality scuba diving and snorkeling are the main attractions to this
resort. Trips to Kralendijk for shopping are available at a nominal charge.
Activities
Sorobon rents snorkeling equipment, or bring your own. There is a
private windsurfing school next door. Bathing suits and towels are
required while renting, although you may windsurf nude. The snorkeling
reef is a 5-10 minute wade or swim from the resort, and is one of the
best reefs in the Caribbean.
Other activities available for a small charge, include canoeing,
surfing, sunfish sailboats, Scuba, massage and yoga.
Nude Areas
You can relax and walk around nude everywhere in the resort, inside the fence
and in the bay in front of the resort. Clothing is optional everywhere as well.
Because of the naturist character of the resort, nudity is mandatory on the
beach and in the swimming area.
Climate
The climate of Bonaire is delightful and constant. Sunshine all year
round, with temperatures ranging from 82° F to 89° F, practically no
difference between day and night. Water temperature is 80° F.
Electricity
127 volt, 50 cycle. 220 volt is also available at some resorts.
